RIP, Don Schaible - October 10, 1943- February 10, 2011 After serving our community for most of his life as Frenchtown's Barber - in the same location which has served for over one hundred years as Frenchtown's local barber shop and center of in-town information, we - his friends, his family, his neighbors and his customers - lost Don Schaible. His charm and wit, his observations and his haircuts will be missed by many. The photo below, immortalized in a book about small town barber shops, will serve generations of the future as a reminder of an era now past... Although Don is gone, we will maintain the web page he liked so much - the first "local business" web page posted on Frenchtown.com - in 1997. Don was an "early adopter" of new technologies - CB Radio, Caller ID, Police Scanners and the Internet... Rest In Peace, Don. We miss you now and will as long as we are around to remember. Others who come after will be able to see these pages and learn of your time with us and how much a part of the community you truely were. |
